The Ultimate Heavy Metal Detox & Weight Loss Soup

One of the easiest and best ways to embrace a cleanse is with soup. With all of our Rejuv packs we use food as medicine combined with our whole food plant based supplements to support the body at a functional level.

Living in the 21st century we are all bombarded with toxins and food is not enough when doing a cleanse, particularly that it is often the toxic food and drinks we consumed that created this toxic exposure in the first place.

The Benefits of Soup All Year Round

I love soup all year round, and I have them cool and warm as snacks or meals as they are packed full of vitamins, minerals, fibre, healthy fats and protein.

I often choose soup for dinner because it is easy on your gut as it is pre-digested in a liquid form, bombarding your body with goodness, therefore, helping you wake up feeling refreshed in the mornings.

Detox Soup for Weight Loss

Cleansing soups can be fantastic to help stimulate and promote weight loss through multiple pathways, as they improve liver and gallbladder function, reduce inflammation, support gut health and help shift goodness into its cells and toxins out. Not only do they support detox they also help reduce body fat and strengthen your metabolism and immune system.

The Detox Green Soup Ingredients

  • One medium-sized head of broccoli
  • 2 courgettes
  • 2 cups of peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup of coriander (cilantro)
  • 1 cup of parsley
  • 1/2 medium-sized leek (sliced)
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 3 sticks of celery (sliced)
  • 5 stalks of asparagus
  • 1 litre vegetable stock (heated)
  • 2 cups of fresh spinach
  • 3 pinches of Cayenne pepper
  • Light olive oil to cook the onions
  • 1/2 turmeric powder
  • 6 cloves of garlic or more
  • A Thumb of ginger
  • Sea Salt & Pepper to taste

Select Your Garnish

When we serve this soup at our retreats, we vary it from day to day by adding the following ingredients as garnish options:

  • raw garlic (garlic, onion & broccoli are all high in glutathio
  • raw ginger
  • cayenne pepper
  • sea salt
  • pepper
  • sauerkraut or kimchi
  • parsley
  • Cilantro
  • Green pumpkin seeds - high in Alpha lipoid acid
  • Sunflower seeds high in NAC
  • 1-2 tbsp organic extra virgin olive oil
  • Brazil nuts - high in selenium - great to bind heavy metals

 

Method 

In a casserole dish or large pan, and over medium heat, sweat the celery, leek and onion in the oil until soft and translucent with light olive oil . Stir in the garlic, ginger and turmeric powder.

Add all the veggies & pour in the hot veggie stock. Simmer until the veggies are tender. You can serve as is or blitz to make a smooth green soup. Add sea or salt, black pepper & cayenne pepper to taste.

Garnish with some or all of the suggestions above.

Our Detox Green Soup is a straightforward recipe and any vegetable you don’t like simply swap for another green vegetable or you can leave out.
